About Us
The LakeRidge Men’s Golf Club (LRMGC) exists to provide golfers of all capabilities an opportunity to play competitive golf and play golf socially with other members of the club.
The LRMGC puts on nine Weekend tournaments, eleven Bi-Weekly 9-hole tournaments and conducts a Match Play League team competition over the season comprised of fourteen Wednesday evenings. At the conclusion of the Match-Play League, the sixteen top players from each league compete in a 27-hole tournament similar to the Ryder Cup. Additionally, we put on a Member-Guest Tournament over three days In August which includes a Horse Race on Friday, followed by a tournament reception that night and a 2-day competition on Saturday and Sunday. We have two different Club Championships: President’s Cup, a stroke-play tournament that is our version of the PGA’s FedEx Cup, and the Club Championship Match-Play Bracket tournament that goes from June 1st through September. Tournament winnings from all competitions are paid out as scrip (a USGA requirement to maintain amateur status) that can be used in the Pro Shop, the 19th Hole Restaurant and the entire Duncan Golf Management family of golf courses.
We start our season with an Opening Dinner, and we conclude the season with our spouse-invited End-of-Season dinner. Raffles at our two dinners provide contributions to the 1st Tee and the Northern Nevada Junior Golf programs, as well as other community golf related entities. Membership includes the maintenance of the members’ GHIN handicap, and we pursue a vigorous oversight of handicaps to assure our members that our competitions are fair to all players.
The LRMGC conducts their competitions at the renown LakeRidge Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., that opened in 1968. The signature hole is the 15th hole, a par 3 set atop Lake Stanley to an enticing island green. The LRMGC is a member of the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA), allowing our members to compete in four Association tournaments on such courses as Spyglass, Quail and Poppy Hills golf courses in Carmel. Our members receive discounts from the Lake Ridge Golf Club on Green Fees and soft-goods merchandise, as well as NCGA discounts at courses across California and the West.
